Academic Referrals in Pathways

Instructors on the Pittsburgh, Greensburg and Bradford campuses can use Pathways to submit Academic Referrals for students outside of the Early Progress Reporting period. Information for each campus is included below. For information on all referrals, please see our resources section.

Before issuing a referral, note that Pathways referrals should be used only for non-emergency situations. If this is an emergency or you have an immediate safety concern for a student, please call 911 or contact campus police.

How to Submit a Referral Instructions for Instructors

Academic Referral (Pittsburgh Campus)

If you are concerned about a student who you do not see on your Early Progress Report list, or you have concerns outside of the EPR period, you can submit an academic referral via Pathways using the instructions link above. After submitting this referral, a student success staff member will review the details and assign the referral to the appropriate academic advisor or academic support staff. If a referral is not an emergency, but requires collaboration across a variety of departments, please consider contacting the Care and Resource Support Office instead of making a Pathways academic referral. You can submit a care referral here.  You can also contact 412-624-5756 or PittCares@pitt.edu if you need to consult with a care manager. For suggested guidelines please review The UCC Student support guide: Student Support Guide 2023

Greensburg Campus Student Referral

If you are concerned about someone who is not on your list, you can make a referral using the Pathways Advising Website and following the instructions above. When you make this referral, a full-time professional academic advisor will be notified. They will interpret the situation and take appropriate action.

Bradford Campus Academic Referral

Please use the Pathways Referral system for academic concerns throughout the semester, or for information that you do not wish to be shared with the student via an Early Progress Report. For all other concerns about a student at any point in the semester, including the early progress reporting period, please submit a report to the campus Care of Concern committee.
