Category Descriptions

Academic Career: The academic career in which the student in currently active (e.g., Undergraduate, Graduate, Law, Medical School).

Active Status: The school (for the Pittsburgh campus) or program (for the regional campuses) in which the student is currently active, includes majors, minors, and certificates.

Advisement Hold: Student has an advising hold on their account preventing them from enrolling in classes.

Applied for Graduation: Student has applied for graduation. The term denotes the term for which the student has applied for graduation.

Campus: The campus on which the student is currently active.

Certificates:  Any certificates that a student is pursuing.  

Cohort: The PeopleSoft group denoting the school and year in which a student was a freshman, if they matriculated as freshman.

Dorm: The dorm in which the student currently resides.

FERPA Waiver: Student has signed a FERPA waiver to allow for disclosure of non-directory information to a parent or other specified person upon being given proper identification in person. View the “Positive Service Indicators” for that student in PeopleSoft to learn the specifics of the waiver.

1st Generation: Student has self-identified as a first-generation college student.

Graduated: Student has graduated with an Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degree. (Useful for identifying students who have already graduated)

Guaranteed Admission: Student has a guaranteed admission to a Pitt graduate program

International: Student studying on a student visa.

Learning Community: Any learning communities in which the student is a part.

Living Learning Community: Any living learning community in which the student is a part.

Minors: Any minor the student has declared.

Non-Disclosure of Directory Information: Student has requested that directory information not be disclosed to anyone.

Priority Review: Student is identified as having a low likelihood of being retained, graduating in six years, or being placed after graduation.

SAP: The current Satisfactory Academic Progress status of the student.

Sports: Any NCAA teams in which the student is currently active, with a category for the campus on which they are an athlete.

Student Support Services: Student is a part of the Student Support Services program on the Pittsburgh campus.

Study Abroad: Student has a study abroad application in progress, accepted, or has committed to study abroad or is a study abroad alumni

Veteran: Any Veteran-affiliated program with which students are associated.
